The South Pasadena Police Department recently teamed up to be part of a regional police helicopter program called "Foothill Air Support Team" ( FAST). South Pasadena joins Alhambra, Arcadia, Azusa, Covina, Monrovia, Pasadena, Glendora, San Marino and West Covina Police Departments in providing a joint air support program.
FAST was created in 2000, after several local cities sought the need for a helicopter program. To assist in spreading the operating cost, the original cities pulled their resources together. Currently, FAST provides air support for virtually all of San Gabriel Valley.
Each city provides a Tactical Flight Officer (TFO), whose responsibilities include: observing, monitoring radio frequency for all participating cities, navigating, and coordinating ground units. |
