Fire Med Program

The South Pasadena Fire Department's Fire Med Program is a voluntary annual subscription program designed to help offset the cost of pre-hospital emergency medical services not covered by medical insurance.

Residents and businesses that choose to join the Fire Med Program are not billed for paramedic treatment services and/or ambulance transportation services provided by the South Pasadena Fire Department. For Fire Med subscribers, the Fire Department recovers medical costs directly from the private medical insurance provider, Medicare, or Medi-Cal, in lieu of billing individuals who receive ambulance services. The annual cost to join the FireMed Program is $60.00 per year for residences or businesses with up to 10 employees. For businesses with over 10 employees, the annual cost is $60.00 plus $20.00 for every 10 additional employees added to the Program. For residential subscribers, the entire household is covered under the FireMed program for emergency treatment and ambulance transportation services. Open enrollment for the FireMed Program occurs during the month of October, although residents and businesses can join at any time throughout the year.
