Philip C. Putnam
Councilmember

Councilmember Putnam was first elected in March 2005 and re-elected in December 2009.  He previously served as Mayor Pro Tem in 2005-2006, and was chosen by his fellow Councilmembers to serve as Mayor for 2006-2007. In 2007-08, he served as Mayor Pro Tem, and he was chosen once more to serve as Mayor from March 2008 to December 2008.

Currently, Councilmember Putnam serves as liaison to the City’s Finance Committee, the Library Board of Trustees, Planning Commission, and the Tunnel Feasibility Study Working Group. He is the city’s representative to the California Joint Powers Insurance Authority, and serves as the alternate on the LA County Sanitation Board, District 16, and the League of California Cities.

Councilmember Putnam has a B.S. in Business and a J.D. from the University of Southern California (USC).  He is a registered Certified Public Accountant (Illinois) . He is a partner at the Law Offices of Monteleone & McCrory, LLP. He also serves as a Judge Pro Tem in the Los Angeles Superior Court, and is a Past President of the Wilshire Bar Association, currently serving on its Board of Governors. He has served in various capacities on the South Pasadena Educational Foundation, the Rose Bowl Foundation (where he currently serves as President), the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association, the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library, the South Pasadena High School Booster Club, Union Station in Pasadena, USC Board of Counselors (Athletic Department), Our Savior Lutheran Church (where he currently serves as Congregational President), and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, State Appellate Judicial Evaluations Committee. In 2006 he was selected as the recipient of the South Pasadena LDS Family Values Award.

Councilmember Putnam is married to Lori Y. Putnam and has three children: Christian, Sean, and David.  He has been a South Pasadena resident since 1980 and has lived in four different areas of the city. He is an avid skier and body boarder.
