Dorothy Cohen

When members of the South Pasadena Library Board of Trustees, the Friends of the Library Board, and the Library staff assembled at the front table of the Awards Luncheon on November 1 at the California Library Association Conference in Pasadena, they had no idea that Dorothy Cohen was the recipient of two of the most prestigious statewide library awards, not only the CALTAC (California Association of Library Trustees and Commissioners) Award for In-Kind Contributions, but also the CLA (California Library Association) President’s Award.  Through the years Dorothy has supported the Library tremendously by serving on the Board of the Friends of the South Pasadena Library, the Library Exterior Beautification Committee, the Library’s History Book Committee, and as Chair of the 10-member Bookstore Committee.  She is also one of the founders of the Bookstore that has run very smoothly and done so much to help the Library since 1982. Due in great part to Dorothy’s contributions, all of these enterprises have been tremendously successful. Dorothy is also one of only four community representatives asked to sign the endorsement letter for the Library’s Measure L Special Tax Ballot Measure that was passed by the electorate for the fourth time in November 2009.
