Project Description: The improvements planned for the interchange of the 110 Freeway and Fair Oaks Avenue are the centerpiece of the Maximizing Mobility program. a). They include the construction of a new on-ramp to the southbound 110 Freeway at State Street, east of Fair Oaks Avenue. The new on-ramp will allow for removal of the double left-turn lanes for the existing on-ramp onto the southbound 110 Freeway. b). This will significantly improve traffic flow on Fair Oaks Avenue. Conflicts will be eliminated between southbound and northbound traffic when turning left onto the existing southbound 110 Freeway on-ramp. c). Additionally, the existing off-ramp from the northbound 110 Freeway onto Fair Oaks Avenue will be expanded from two to four lanes. This will be accomplished by closing Grevelia Street to through traffic just west of Fair Oaks Avenue. d). Adding two off-ramp lanes will eliminate the queuing of northbound traffic on the northbound 110 Freeway exiting on Fair Oaks Avenue.
